Nokia 6 (2018) review
Second generation Nokia 6
Our Nokia 6 (2018) review follows on from our original Nokia 6 review. While many things remain the same, the second generation Nokia 6 gets a more powerful processor, biometric security and a new camera mode.
The design of the Nokia 6 (2018) sees an improvement with a higher screen to body ratio of 73.2%, compared to 70.7% on the original Nokia 6. This equates to less phone above and below the screen, making the phone 5mm shorter.
The 5.5” Full HD IPS display has a resolution of 1080 x 1960 pixels and this is protected behind durable 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The body shows off improved durability and strength as well, and is made from a solid piece of 6000 Series aluminium.
The manufacturing and shaping process is cut using diamond cutting technology. The body has also gone through a two-colour anodisation process to deliver bolder colours.

The Nokia 6 (2018) is available in black or silver and is just 8.1mm thick (not including the 0.45mm camera bump). The biggest news for the second generation Nokia 6 is the significantly faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 2.2GHz octa-core processor with 4GB RAM.
Comparison: The original Nokia 6 has a 1.4GHz processor.
Phone Set Up
The second generation Nokia 6 has a fingerprint sensor for security, which does not appear on the original. This is positioned on the back of the phone and its placement feels very natural.
The Nokia 6 second generation is being produced in two memory variants. One has a 32GB internal memory, while the other has a 64GB internal memory. Both variants have a microSD card slot, so you can boost the memory by up to another 128GB.
The Nokia 6 (2018) has the Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system pre-loaded. With this, you will enjoy monthly security updates and you can update the OS to Android 8.0 Oreo to get the latest enhancements and features.
Of course, you get a package of pre-loaded Google apps, such as Gmail, Google Maps, YouTube and the Chrome web browser. You can also visit the Play Store to download new apps, content and themes.
Camera & Video
Dual View Mode
The second generation Nokia 6 gets a new camera mode that isn’t available on the original. This is the Dual View Mode that lets you share the whole story, by using both the 16MP rear camera and the 8MP front (selfie) camera.
