Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro review
The performance version of the Mi 8 series
Our Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro review takes a look at the high-performance model of the Mi 8 series. In comparison to the Xiaomi Mi 8, the Pro gets very flashy with an in-screen fingerprint sensor, a bit more RAM (a performance indicator), twice the memory, and a slightly smaller battery.
Available from £21.25 per month on a 24-month contract, you don’t need to spend a fortune to get the best that Xiaomi offers.
AMOLED Always-on Display
The Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro uses a 6.21” (Samsung-made) AMOLED FHD+ (2248x 1080 pixels) display. The detailed resolution is married up with a Sunlight Mode that ramps up the brightness to 600nit (equivalent to the intensity given off by 600 candles).

This Xiaomi phone has an Always-on Display Mode, Reading Mode and an ultra-thin curved edge design that accentuates the premium look. The Transparent Titanium model is the one to choose, letting you see the components inside, when you flip the phone over. The phone weighs 177g and is 7.6mm thick.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 AI 2.8GHz octa-core processor with 8GB RAM delivers an upgraded gaming performance with enhanced graphics details and increased frame rate stability.

Biometric security at is best
The Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro couldn’t be more refreshing when it comes to biometrics. You can use the IR Face Unlock feature that works even when it is dark or the in-screen fingerprint sensor, which only scans your fingerprint when it feels pressure on the screen. This differs from a traditional fingerprint sensor that is always scanning, and thus wasting precious power.
Navigation in a city can be tricky, especially when you loose your GPS signal due to tall buildings and office blocks. The Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro solves this problem by using dual-frequency GPS technology.
The MIUI user interface is based on Android 8.1 Oreo, and there will be an update to Android Pie, available at some point in the future. The user interface lets you create device-specific voice commands, customise the notification centre, and use an optimised driving mode.
