WileyFox Swift 2 review
Android Nougat cheap as chips
Our WileyFox Swift 2 review highlights what is quite possibly the cheapest and most affordable Android Nougat smartphone in the UK. Priced from £162 as handset only or from £11 per month on a 24 month contract, the Swift 2 proves that anyone can own an Android Nougat smartphone.
Display and performance
The WileyFox Swift 2 must be viewed in the context of its market, which is at the affordable end. Here, we find a typical 5” display with HD resolution (720 x 1280 pixels at 296 pixels per inch).

The front is one solid piece of 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 3. This has a smudge resistant coating and has the convenience of a Glove Mode. The glass front is fixed to a curved metal housing that is 8.64mm thick and weighs in at 158g.
The WileyFox Swift 2 is offered in Rose, Gold or Midnight Mint (black). Inside there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core 1.4GHz processor with 2GB RAM. This offers a reasonable gaming, app and internet browsing experience.

Security and getting started
The WileyFox Swift 2 surprises us with fingerprint recognition offering biometric security. Of course, all other methods of security, such as PIN or pattern, are all also available as well.
The memory is rather basic at 16GB and of this 9.6GB is available to the owner. This can be used for storing photos and other media from an old smartphone. The odds are 50/50 on whether this amount of memory will suffice, but thankfully there is a microSD card slot that supports cards with a value of up to 64GB.
As we have already mentioned, the biggest plus to the Swift 2 is that it runs Google’s latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system. This really gives a good use experience and you can read more about Android Nougat here.
If you like your music then the Swift 2 will be a good pairing. The 90dB+ sound is produced by a 15x11mm speaker and a Power Amp that ensures loud is met with clarity. We also find a LED notification light on this smartphone, which as added bonus.
Camera & Video
Samsung camera sensor
The WileyFox Swift 2 boasts a 13MP Samsung 3L8 camera sensor. This is coupled up with Phase Detection Auto Focus, focusing in just 0.6 seconds, to help ensure that you never miss the moment.
The camera uses a dual LED flash to illuminate the scene and there are live filters, 1080p video recording and a 8MP selfie camera, to play around with.
Quick Charge 3.0
The WileyFox Swift 2 has an apt 2,700mAh battery and in the box you will find a USB Type-C cable. You can charge the phone with this by connecting it to an existing USB charger or your PC or laptop.

WileyFox does not supply the actual charger, which is both a plus and a negative. On the plus side the phone packaging can fit through your letterbox and the environment benefits through not needlessly making chargers, that most households already have.
On the negative side, this phone supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 and to fast charge the phone you will need a fast charger, which your household is less likely to already have.
If you do buy a quick charger however, in 15 minutes you can charge the phone to 25% capacity, in 30 minutes you can charge the phone to 50% capacity and in 45 minutes you can charge the phone to 75% capacity.
No matter how it is charged, the WileyFox Swift 2 will give you up to 260 minutes of talk time or up to 180 hours of standby.
