Samsung Galaxy A7 2017 review
Equally skilled at scenery and selfie photography
Our Samsung Galaxy A7 2017 review identifies the next best thing, outside of the Samsung Galaxy S7. In particular, the Galaxy A7 (2017) breaks the trend and puts an equally powerful camera on both front and back.
The Samsung Galaxy A7 2017 is also water resistant, something that the Galaxy A3 2016 and the Galaxy A5 2016, were not.
Design and durability
The Samsung Galaxy A7 2017 has a practical design, with IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. In fact, the phone can be immersed in water to a depth of 1.5m for 30 minutes.

The rear case is made from highly resistant 3D Glass and this meets a premium metal frame. Achieving a look of minimalism sees a symmetrical design from all angles and the use of a camera module that doesn’t protrude outwards on the back.
Muted colour tones have been used in order to reflect natural elements, and these includes Black Sky and Gold Sand. The Samsung Galaxy A7 2017 weighs in at 186g and has a body that is 7.9mm thick.
Display and processor
A powerful visual impact is made through the large 5.7” Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display. This produces vivid colours and a brightness that is synonymous with the Samsung brand.
The Galaxy A7 2017 has a fast 1.9GHz octa-core processor with 3GB RAM and this is more than powerful enough to handle lag-free internet browsing and gaming.
Phone Set Up
Just like Samsung’s flagship smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) has a fingerprint sensor, for security. This biometric feature can be used to unlock the phone and access the Secure Folder, where private data, photos and videos, can be stored.

Getting started is pretty easy and the SIM card slots into the side, while a microSD card (up to 256GB) can be slotted into the top. There is an internal memory of 32GB and of this, 23GB is available to the user.
Owners of a Samsung Galaxy A7 2017 can also back up data and photos with Samsung Cloud (15GB free).
Apps and OS
It is a delight to see that the Samsung Galaxy A7 2017 has an Always-On Display. On this you can view the essentials without waking up the phone, which saves both power and time. What is shown on the Always-On Display can be customised and can include a clock, calendar and notifications.

This Samsung mobile phone is powered by Google’s Android 6.0.16 Marshmallow operating system. In addition to Google apps, such as Google Maps, Samsung has added Samsung Pay, S-Voice and Samsung KNOX security.
As with all Samsung smartphones, you can download more apps from Google’s Play Store and from Samsung’s Galaxy App Store, where you can find apps created just for Galaxy phones.
Camera & Video
The Samsung Galaxy A7 2017 has a 16MP low-light camera with a f1.9 aperture, on both front and back. This breaks the norm and makes this phone, one of the very best for selfie / portrait photography.

The simplified UX uses an easy swipe system for changing modes, instant filters or active picture effects. Photography effects includes Maple, Cream, Deep, Forest, Cosy and Classic, along with several others and there is special food mode that adds warmer colours to culinary photos.
The floating shutter is optimised for better grip and this phone can capture 1080p video and use the display as a front flash.
Samsung hasn’t cut corners when it comes to power and this phone has a high-capacity 3,600mAh battery, which lasts longer and is quicker to charge. Fast Charge is conducted through the USB Type-C port, which is symmetrical, making it far easier to insert.
The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) can provide up to 59 hours of audio or up to 17 hours of Wi-Fi internet browsing or 20 hours of video playback.
