In our Samsung Galaxy A40 review, we find a clear focus on selfies with a powerful 25MP portrait camera. There is an extensive set of features and at from £219 (handset only), this equates to superb value for money and good consumer satisfaction.
The Samsung Galaxy A40 has a large 5.9” Infinity-U Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution (2,340x 1,080 pixels). The resolution is extremely detailed and images look lifelike on the screen that spreads from edge-to-edge and only has a small camera notch.

The display has several screen modes such as adaptive, cinema, and photo. There is also a Blue Light Filter that can be activated in order to save eye strain in the evening.
This Samsung mobile phone has a 3D curved back and a bottom-ported speaker that projects sound well. It is very light at 140g and thin at 7.9mm. You are spoilt for choice when it comes to the colour of the phone and you can choose between Black, White, Coral, or Blue.
The 1.8GHz octa-core processor with 4GB RAM is a real blessing in the performance department. You can play graphics-heavy games without lag and open apps in an instant.

Digital Wellbeing, Game Launcher, Kids Home, and Bixby
Digital Wellbeing allows you turn on a wind down mode. This feature gradually fades the screen to greyscale as you get closer to your typical bed time.
Game Launcher permits you to access all of your games in one place. You can set preferences such as opening games with or without sound and muting notifications. You can also change the performance mode to Focus on Performance, Balanced, or Focus on Power Saving.
Kids Home gives you a great way to have parental control over your children’s usage. You can restrict the apps they can open, set daily usage times, and set play times.
The Bixby digital assistant in built in and this includes the Bixby Home page. Here you can see cards of useful information based on your usage patterns. These cards might include your daily schedule, quick access to play your favourite music, view alarms, and see your daily activity.

The Samsung Galaxy A40 will let you campture high-quality selfies through its 25MP camera. There are plenty of features to give your photos pop, such as Selfie Focus where you can blur the background and Smart Beauty Mode, to make photo enhancements.
There is plenty of fun to have with My Emoji / AR Emoji, where you can create an emoji in your own likeness. You can further customise the emoji with different hairstyles and face shapes. Further to this, you can download items from AR World, such as clothing and accessories.
You can add elements to your selfies with stickers, stamps, and filters. You can also access the camera in an instant by pressing the power key twice in quick succession.

Ultra wide-angle dual camera
The dual camera on the Samsung Galaxy A40 has a 16MP main lens and a 5MP ultra wide-angle lens with a 123-degree field of view. The camera works well to capture excellent results in bright daylight and low nightlight. The dual lens also lets you blur the background with Live Focus.
The automatic Scene Optimiser manages the colour saturation and brightness for you, through the recognition of 19 modes, from food to sunset. You will be able to record video in Full High Definition and shoot in Hyperlapse Mode, Pro Mode, and Panorama Mode.
The 3,100mAh battery is charged with a 15W Fast Charger that connects through the symmetrical USB Type-C port. The battery lasts well giving up to 62 hours of music playback, or up to 11 hours of internet browsing, or up to 14 hours of video playback.
