Smooth design and edge-to-edge display
The Samsung Galaxy A30 boasts an FHD+ 6.4-inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The aspect ratio of 19.5:9 gives you a good viewing experience when browsing web pages. You see more of the page with this type of display as additional lines are displayed, which means less scrolling around. The screen immerses you into video clips when they are displayed in widescreen style in landscape mode.

New: Oppo Reno Z review
The Samsung Galaxy A30 is available in Black, Blue, and White. The phone weighs in at 165g and measuring 7.7mm thick, making this phone slim and compact.
The phone boasts an Exynos 7904 (14nm) processor. The RAM is dependent on the model you choose with the 32GB one sporting 3GB RAM and the 64GB model has 4GB RAM. Either of these will deliver a great performance when multitasking and using the split-screen feature.
Phone Set Up
The Samsung Galaxy A30 has the traditional fingerprint sensor placed on the back. This is a responsive sensor that is placed in a position where you would naturally put your finger when picking up the phone. It works quickly and you can set up more than one fingerprint to allow others to access the phone if you wish.
The onboard memory can be expanded if you need more room for your photos or videos. The microSD card slot can be used with cards up to 1TB giving you all the space you could ever need.

The Samsung Galaxy A30 also has advanced facial recognition technology. Simply unlock the phone by picking it up and the scanner will recognise you. This is an excellent feature if you want to keep your information secure as only you will be able to unlock the phone. The Secure Folder is another great feature as you can keep files, photos or apps in a folder that only you can access.
The Samsung Galaxy A30 is an Android Pie phone so you get lots of familiar apps such as Chrome, Maps, and YouTube. Samsung has enhanced this further with their own One UI. The manufacturer has focused on making this is a streamlined feature and you won't get duplicated apps and features.
Some of the top features of the one UI include:
Improved one-handed use - the fresh look of the UI makes it easy to use apps and features one-handed. It works by giving you a viewing area at the top of the display and a touch area at the bottom half. The viewing area also disappears as you move down the app so you don't lose any viewing area.
Dark Mode - this has been a highly requested feature for smartphone users and Samsung has listened. The mode is supported system-wide so you get a dark notification panel, app drawer, etc. The look is excellent and makes for a much more comfortable viewing experience.
Gesture Navigation - Samsung has added their own version of gesture navigation on the One UI. You can choose to use gestures instead of the Android buttons. A swipe up from the bottom left of the screen will take you back a step and bottom to the middle will take you to the home screen. A swipe from the bottom right of the display will open the recently used apps menu.
Gallery Recycle Bin - if you have ever been scrolling through your photos and accidentally cleared one out you wanted to keep, the Recycle Bin is for you. When you delete a photo from the Gallery it will sit in the Recycle Bin for 15 days. If you mistakenly delete a photo you can get it back before it is permanently gone.
Keyboard features - some new features have been added to the keyboard including a "Floating mode". This mode allows you to place the keyboard wherever you want it on the screen. The new Adaptive Theme feature will change the colour of the keyboard based on the background colour of the app you are using.
Camera & Video
Dual AI Camera
The rear camera on the Samsung Galaxy A30 is a dual-lens which consists of:
16-megapixel main lens with an f/1.7 aperture
5-megapixel Ultra-wide camera with a 123-degree field of view
The wider field of view allows the camera to capture images just as your eye sees them. The 16-megapixel lens captures beautifully clear and bright shots. The camera uses AI to recognise scenes and objects. It then adjusts the white balance, brightness level, and saturation instantly before you take the shot. This ensures you get great image results whatever the subject. AI technology can recognise many things including:
- City street
You want your photos to be as good as possible and with flaw detection, you can be assured of that. This feature can detect is someone in the shot blinked or too much backlighting is distorting the photo. It can also detect if someone or part of the image is blurred. Flaw Detection alerts you to any of these faults so you can take the shot again.
16-megapixel selfie camera
You get the same high-quality 16-megapixel lens used on the back on the front of the phone too. Selfie focus allows you to blur the background for professional-looking results. AR Emoji and AR stickers allow you to add pops of colour and animations to your images.

The Samsung Galaxy A30 has a 4,000mAh battery with intelligent power saving modes. As the phone learns the apps you use and when you are most active it will manage background tasks and other battery features to make sure you have all the power you need. When you do need to recharge you can do so in super-quick time thanks to the 15W Fast Charging feature.
