Oppo Reno review
A true full-screen experience
Our Oppo Reno review finds a smartphone that honestly delivers a full-screen experience. This has been made possible through the use of a pivot pop-up selfie camera, resulting in no lens or lens notch, breaking up the beauty of the screen.
Panoramic Full-Screen Display
The Oppo Reno has a large 6.4” AMOLED display which sprawls across 93.1% of the front face of the phone. As we have mentioned, there is no camera lens breaking up your viewing experience, and there is a fantastic resolution of 2,340x 1,080 pixels (402 pixels per inch).

You can purchase the Oppo Reno in Ocean Green or Jet Black. Both colour variations have intricate gloss detailing on an overall matte finish. The 3D glass back panel has an O-Dot below the two camera lenses. This is a small bump that stops the camera lenses getting scratched when the phone is placed down onto a hard surface.

Then phone is 9mm thick and weighs 185g, both of which are typical for the price range.
The Oppo Reno has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 2.2GHz octa-core processor. This gives great performance with 6GB of RAM, but you can splash out a little more money and choose the 8GB RAM model, which offers ultra-grade performance.
Phone Set Up
Restoring your content
The Oppo Reno is offered with either 128GB or 256GB of internal memory. This will easily accommodate moving over your old smartphone content. The situation is helped by Oppo giving you 128GB of cloud storage, so you can store or backup your content online.
In-screen fingerprint sensor
The in-screen fingerprint sensor lights up when movement is sensed by the phone. This saves battery power and you will also enjoy an improved unlocking rate of 20-30%, while unlocking is 28.5% quicker.
The Oppo Reno runs on the ColorOS 6 user interface, which is made on the Android 9 Pie operating system. The UI has been thoughtfully designed for use on borderless displays, like the one on the Reno.
ColorOS 6 features and apps include:
- Smart Assistant – this is one-screen that shows your calendar events, favourite apps, fitness tracking, favourite contacts, and notes
- Smart Riding Mode – this mutes notifications, declines calls, and automatically texts back callers
- Swipe-up Gesture Navigation
- System Boost
- Game Boost
- App Boost
The Game Assistant on the Oppo Reno will let you streamline your notifications, record the screen, and reply to messages while gaming. You can further personalise power consumption and performance.

The possibility of lag is lowered by 44.1%, while the frame rate stability is increased by 31.38%. There is also Dolby Atmos with Hi-Res audio to enhance the sounds of your movies and games.
Camera & Video
Super HD Lens
The Reno has a 48MP Super HD Sony lens and a secondary 5MP lens, which will let you capture blurred backgrounds (bokeh).
One of the most impressive features of the camera is Ultra Night Mode 2.0. This keeps the shutter open for four seconds so that the ultra large sensor can capture more light and produce surprising bright and colourful results. This feature works with multi-frame noise reduction.
Oppo Reno camera features include:
- Time Lapse
- 4K video recording
This Oppo phone has a Pop-up Pivot Rising Structure that silently opens in 0.8 seconds. The mechanism is free-fall protected, retracting when it senses a sudden drop. The 16MP selfie camera comes with a Beauty function that smooths out your complexion, while not going too far and making it look unrealistic.
The 3,765mAh battery is of a very healthy capacity and the USB-C charger and Flash Charge algorithm charge the battery quickly, with trickle speed charging improved by 100%.
