Lenovo K5 Vibe review
Built for media
The Lenovo K5 Vibe may be priced for entry-level but if media enjoyment, such as music, films and TV, are important, then this smartphone and its built-in Dolby Atmos sound enhancements, will meet and exceed your expectations.
Display - 5” IPS
The Lenovo K5 Vibe has a 5” IPS display with a HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. IPS screen technology is a good choice for those who love to share the content on their smartphone because it gives 180 degree wide-angle viewing.
Bearing in mind that this Lenovo phone is designed for media enjoyment, the IPS display seems to be the right choice.
Design - Aluminium
The Lenovo K5 Vibe shows clearly that it isn’t just premium phones that can use premium materials. The back case, which includes the sides, is made from lightweight aluminium, which accounts for the phone’s overall weight, of just 142 grams.
The design also includes an octa-core 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 2GB RAM. This processor balances performance and power and shows, once again, that eight cores isn’t out of reach of entry-level phone users.
Phone Set Up

The Lenovo K5 Vibe has a 16GB memory and the microSD card slot can support cards with a value of up to 32GB.
Media - Dolby Atmos
Having Dolby Atmos is a big deal for the Lenovo K5 Vibe and probably makes it the best budget phone for media.
The state-of-the-art Dolby Atmos Audio and twin speakers generate audio that flows above and around you, for music, videos, games and video chat. Dolby Atmos moves beyond traditional surround sound as sound appears to come from all directions, including overhead, with clarity, power, depth and richness.

The custom tuned twin built-in speakers work with Dolby Atmos content and also greatly improves the sound quality of any file format of music, TV and game. Creating a more enveloping sound field, while maximising loudness without distortion, Dolby Atmos also gives a consistant playback volume.
Dolby Atmos - How it works
The built-in Dolby Atmos processor uses the same streaming soundtracks as home theatres and takes the spatial audio information and renders them in virtual 3D.
Today, filmmakers can make any sound into an object and up to 128 of them can be labeled at one time. The filmmaker can decide where a sound object, such as a scream or barking dog, is located and decide where that sound object will move to next.
For two-channel stereo devices, Dolby Atmos uses the results of psychoacoustics, which is the study of how we perceive sound. The evidence shows that the direction of a sound is determined by the human brain by sensing that a sound arrives at the ears at different times as well as through other characteristics, such as being softer or less distinct in one ear.
Dolby Atmos recreates the effect by replicating these characteristics and this fools the brain into believing that sounds are originating from all three dimensions.
Camera & Video
Photography - 13MP camera
The Lenovo K5 Vibe is setting, along with a few other smartphones, where the new standard lies in entry-level devices. The main camera has a 13MP resolution and nighttime photography is aided with a LED flash.

This camera can record at 1080p (high definition) quality and the 5MP selfie camera can be used to make video calls.
Power - Removable battery
The 2,750mAh battery on the Lenovo K5 Vibe gives all day power and the removable battery can be swapped out by those who wish to buy a spare.

Final thoughts: The Lenovo K5 Vibe is a very inexpensive smartphone, yet it gives back far more than the price would indicate. If price and quality music and video playback are key purchasing factors, then the K5 Vibe seems to be the perfect buy.
