Huawei Y7 2019 review
Budget phones just keep getting better
In our Huawei Y7 (2019) review we find that budget phones are getting better and better. They are pulling over more of those to-die-for features that are on premium phones and doing so sooner than ever before.
The Huawei Y7 (2019) is available from £12 per month on a two-year contract, placing it at a price-point that everyone can afford. It is available right now in the UK, so you don’t need to wait to order yours.
The front of the Huawei Y7 (2019) is pretty much all screen with a Dewdrop IPS display. The Dewdrop design sees a small curved indent at the top of the screen in which the camera lens sits.
There is plenty of room for enjoying the visual experience with the screen measuring 6.26”. The display has HD+ resolution (1,520x 720 pixels) with a 19:9 screen-aspect-ratio. This means that the display is longer, letting your see more of a webpage or video (if you turn the phone on its side).
The screen technology has advanced to give greater colour saturation from all angles, making it easier than ever to enjoy the experience.

Curved glass design
The Huawei Y7 (2019) is made from 2.5D curved glass, so it feels superb in the hand. The curved rear cover has a polished ceramic-like smooth texture and you can choose between Coral Red, Midnight Black, and Aurora Blue models. The body is 8.1mm thick and at 168g, the phone is pretty light.
A quality Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 1.8GHz octa-core processor with 3GB RAM is inside. This is very cool because it has the RAM needed for smooth gaming, web browsing, and streaming.
Phone Set Up
Face Unlock 2.0
Face Unlock 2.0 is quicker to unlock the phone and it can do so at wider angles. If you prefer to use a fingerprint sensor, then one is rear-mounted, giving you the best of both worlds.
The Huawei Y7 (2019) has a 32GB memory for your content. You can bring your existing content over by logging into your Google account or by using the Huawei Share app or the Phone Clone app. For those that need massive amounts of memory, there is a memory card slot that works with any card value up to 512GB.
The Huawei Y7 (2019) uses the Android Oreo operating system and while this is great for giving you essential Google-made apps, it is the EMUI 8.2 user interface that makes this phone stand out.
The phone has a floating dock for easy one-handed use and you can run multi-window apps or switch to an Easy Mode with a simplified interface. You can get tips based on when and where you use your phone.
If you like your wallpaper to be a bit more than a background image, then there are two options open to you. You can select the Time Wallpaper that changes through the day, or you can choose the MicroMotion Wallpaper, which does pretty much what it suggests.
Camera & Video
Expert-level blurred backgrounds
The Huawei Y7 (2019) has a dual camera that will let you capture that high-end bokeh effect. The camera has a 13MP lens and a 2MP depth sensor, that is used to accurately blur the background.
You can record Full HD video or snap away with the 8MP selfie camera. The perfect selfie is always achieved with automatic retouching.

Masses of battery capacity
If you were looking for another great reason for buying the Huawei Y7 (2019) then here it is. There is a 4,000mAh battery and it is a rare phone indeed that has a bigger battery than this.
Not only is the battery capacity amazing but there is AI power-saving technology working in the background to maximise usage times further. When you need to charge the battery, there is a 10W fast charger to make quick work of this.
