Huawei P10 Plus review
Go big, go fast and go all day
Our Huawei P10 Plus review finds a smartphone that probably should have been named the Huawei P10 Performance. The Huawei P10 Plus goes where the Huawei P10 doesn’t with a bigger display, better resolution, longer lasting battery, better camera and more lag-busting RAM.
One phone, three finishes
It is unusual to get a choice of finishes but the Huawei P10 Plus offers this. You can opt for a hyper diamond-cut finish that adds colour, brightness and strength or you can opt for a high gloss or sandblast finish, all of which are distinctly different from each other.

The actual colour range includes Ceramic White, Graphite Black, Dazzling Gold, Dazzling Blue, Mystic Silver and Rose Gold. The body is very slim at 6.98mm and the camera modules sits flush, while the concave power key helps protect against accidental presses.
2K display, Ultra Memory
The large 5.5” display has 2K resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels) and at 540 pixels per inch, the P10 Plus gives far more detail, in comparison to the standard version of the P10.
The 2.4GHz Kirin 960 octa-core processor comes with a choice of 4GB or 6GB RAM, with internal memory choices of 64GB to 128GB. The Kirin processor has a few tricks up its sleeve with Huawei Ultra Memory technology using machine learning to manage the memory. Ultra Memory reserves portions of the memory for the apps you use most, so that they load faster than ever before.
Phone Set Up
The fingerprint sensor has moved from the back and is now hidden away under the front screen glass of the Huawei P10 Plus. This gives easier navigation with increased touch speed.
Aside from setting up biometric security, the fingerprint sensor can be used to access the Safe, lock apps with App Lock, launch the assistant or for scrolling through recently used apps.
Android, EMUI 5.1
Running Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system, the Huawei P10 Plus comes with the most popular apps pre-loaded. However, Huawei gives the experience a fresh look with its own EMUI 5.1 user interface.
There are some really useful apps to make use of. Split Screen Apps make use of the large screen space and when needed, the Huawei P10 Plus can be switched into One Handed Mode.
Further useful apps includes Twin Apps where a second app icon can be added to your home screen, so that you can remain logged in on two different accounts with apps like Facebook. The Huawei P10 Plus also brings an Eye Comfort Mode, Virus Scan, Gloves Mode, infrared controller feature and dual speakers for rich stereo output.
Camera & Video
Leica Dual Camera 2.0 Pro Edition
The Leica Dual Camera 2.0 Pro Edition brings a larger aperture of f/1.8, which captures more light in comparison to the camera on the standard P10. The 20MP monochrome and 12MP RGB lenses work together to give hybrid zoom and wide aperture photography, for creating natural depth-of-field bokeh effects or monochrome bokeh effects with greater detail.
Precise 3D facial detection technology identifies personal features more accurately, while the dynamic illumination light-sensing algorithm automatically adjusts and adds an artistic glow.

The Huawei P10 Plus has a new Huawei imaging algorithm that works to create artistic portraits in a Leica style, where special optical attention is given to the eyes, bringing out their innate brightness and colour.
Further camera features includes a 4-in-1 hybrid autofocus, 4K video recording, Slow Motion playback and Time Lapse. The Highlights feature allows you to generate best moment videos, based on shooting mode, time or location.
Leica Selfie Cam
The 8MP Leica Selfie Cam gets improved substantially and now captures 200% more light. It is more intelligent too and will automatically switch to wide-angle shots, when more people step into the frame for group selfies.
Like many other selfie cameras, you can also save your beautification preferences in Perfect Selfie Mode.
