HTC U11+ review
Translucent glass and high performance
Aside from the improved performance and the bigger screen, the translucent glass option allows consumers to indulge themselves in a design element that we haven’t seen before.
The HTC U11+ has a whopping 6” Quad HD Super LCD display. This has the new 18:9 aspect ratio that allows for a larger screen to be fitted into a smaller body.
Keep up to Date
Fill in the form and be the first to know when the HTC U11+ is released.
The screen’s specifications are:
- 2880 x 1440 pixels
- 537 pixels per inch
- Wide colour gamut and accuracy
- HDR10 video playback
The HTC U11+ has the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 10nm 2.45GHz octa-core processor with 4GB RAM. This has featured in almost all of the premium smartphones this year.
In comparison to the processor used in the HTC 10, there is 25% faster graphics and reduced power consumption gives 30 hours more music playback.
Durable yet beautiful
The HTC U11+ is made from durable Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It has IP68 certification against water resistant and the phone weighs in at 188g and at 8.5mm thick.

The colour options include Ceramic Black and Amazing Silver and on these the glass black is infused with highly refractive minerals that catch and reflect light.
However, it is the Translucent Black HTC U11+ that catches the eye the most. This has a translucent molded glass back that lets you see the craftsmanship within. If you really want something that looks unique, then this is the model to choose.
Phone Set Up
Fingerprint security and transferring content
The HTC U11+ has a fingerprint sensor that has been moved onto the back. This move is simply a result of having that elongated display, filling more of the front space.
You can easily transfer all of your content over from an old phone with the 128GB internal memory. It is hard to believe that this will ever get filled up, but just in case there is a (up to) 2TB microSD card slot.
The HTC U11+ has Edge Sense and this can detect when you squeeze the phone. The feature is really handy, particularly if you only have one hand free. The squeeze action can be used:
- Open any chosen app
- Take photos or videos
- Launch the voice assistant
The Edge Sense actions can also be used to carry out operations from within an app. So, you could assign the action to zoom in while using Google Maps.
HTC BoomSound & USonic
Audio has never sounded better or louder, with the HTC U11+ sporting HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi Edition. The phone uses the entire body of the smartphone as an acoustic chamber, giving incredible results.
In the box we find the included pair of USonic Earbuds. These use sonic-like technology to map out your individual inner ear. They then adjusts the audio to ensure you hear everything as intended.
When wearing the USonic Earbuds, Active Noise Cancellation compensates for external environmental sound, so that you cannot hear them. The listening experience is Hi-Res Audio certified, producing 24-bit sound.
HTC Sense Companion & Android Oreo
The HTC Sense Companion quietly learns you daily patterns and it uses this information to give you suggestive prompts. It may check the weather against your calendar to let you know if events will be effected. It may also predict your day’s usage pattern and prompt you to add a bit more charge to the battery before you leave home.
The Android 8.0 Oreo operating system makes it easier to do two things at once with picture-in-picture mode. Always on voice makes it easier to activate Amazon Alexa and the Google Assistant however, if you choose you can assign one of these to the Edge Sense action.
To make using the large screen practical you can swipe anywhere on the screen to check your notifications or access apps through the floating dock.
Camera & Video
The HTC U11+ has a 12MP UltraPixel 3 camera and this improves upon the U11 camera, which received a 90 score from DxOMark. Images are crisp and vivid with OIS, EIS and UltraSpeed AF with full-sensor Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF).

Shooting features include HDR Boost, Pro Mode, RAW image format support, Hyperlapse and Slow Motion video. If you choose to record 4K video then Acoustic Focus captures 360-degrees of audio through four microphones.
The 8MP selfie camera has the same HDR Boost and noise reduction technology as the main camera. This captures two images at different exposures and merges them into one. The result is a photo with light, dark and colour all getting equal attention.
Shooting features include Live make-up, Auto Selfie, Voice Selfie and Selfie Panorama.
30% more battery stamina
The HTC U11+ has a high capacity 3,930mAh battery. This gives a 30% increase in battery stamina compared to the HTC U11. The battery could give you up to 25 hours of talk time, easily getting you from one day to the next.
When the U11+ does need recharging, Quick Charge 3.0 will do the task in record time.
