HTC U11 EYEs review
Dual selfie camera
Our HTC U11 EYEs review sees HTC throw out yet another variant of its HTC U11 flagship phone. This joins the HTC U11+ and the HTC U11 Life, with the U11 EYEs putting the focus on its dual selfie camera.
The HTC U11 EYEs has a really big display but with almost no phone surround, the phone doesn’t feel oversized in the hand. The 6” display has Full HD+ resolution and the new18:9 elongated aspect ratio.
Keep up to Date
Fill in the form and be the first to know when the HTC U11 EYEs is released.
When Full HD+ and a 18:9 aspect ratio are put together, you get extra rows of pixels (2160 x 1080 pixels / 402ppi). This means that you can see more of a web page without needing to scroll.
Comparison: Full HD resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels.
The HTC U11 EYEs ticks the right boxes with durable Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protecting the front from knocks, scratches and scrapes. The phone is also water and dust resistant to IP67 standards (submersible to 1 metre for 30 minutes).
This HTC phone really catches the eye with reflective and luminous colours, that catch the light over its smooth curvaceous body. Colour choices include Amazing Silver, Ceramic Black and Solar Red.
This mobile phone has an acceptable 8.5mm thickness and weighs 185g. Inside, there is a fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 1.8GHz octa-core processor with 4GB RAM.
Phone Set Up
The HTC U11 EYEs goes all out in the biometric department with Face Unlock and a fingerprint sensor. You can initialise Face Unlock by squeezing the phone and this is a godsend if you have wet fingers or are wearing gloves, which are both instances that render the fingerprint sensor useless.

Tons of memory
With a 64GB internal memory, there is stacks of room to move your existing content onto. A memory card slot offers near limitless memory expansion, accepting up to 2TB microSD cards.
Android Oreo and HTC apps
Some phones offer no more than Google’s Android (8.0 Oreo) operating system. The HTC U11 EYEs goes way beyond this with apps such as:
- Edge Sense - Access apps, videos, photos or launch the voice assistant with a squeeze
- Edge Launcher - Open a customisable floating dock with a squeeze
- HTC USonic - Plug in the USonic Earphones that scan your inner ear to create a unique sound profile, based on your inner ear architecture
- HTC Sense Companion - Get suggestions based on how you use the phone
- HTC Sense - Modified home screen, widgets and apps
Camera & Video
Dual selfie camera
This is the big feature that the HTC U11 EYES has, which isn’t featured on any of the other U11 variants. The dual 5MP selfie camera uses three technologies simultaneously; HDR Boost, Beauty Mode and Bokeh Mode.
With these, you can adjust the depth-of-field background blur in real-time or post shot. Selfie features include Stickers, Screen Flash, Auto Self (smile or keep still), Voice Selfie and Selfie Panorama.
Award winning main camera
The HTC U11 EYEs has the same award winning main camera, as the HTC U11. The 12MP camera with UltraPixel 3 technology, HDR Boost and UltraSpeed Autofocus, needless to say, captures photos that will blow you away.
Optical and electronic stabilisation work for still and video photography, respectively. Temporal noise reduction makes the best of 4k video and slow motion video (120fps) recording. You can click on the image gallery to see the difference that this makes.
HTC’s biggest battery
The HTC U11 EYEs battery has the highest capacity seen on any HTC phone. The 3,930mAh battery also supports QuickCharge 3.0, so that you can charge it in record time.

The battery gives up to 28 hours talk time or up to 18 days standby. If you do find yourself short on power, then power saving and extreme power saving modes will ensure you make it through the day.
