Apple iPhone 11 Pro review
Triple camera and blisteringly fast processor
In our Apple iPhone 11 Pro review, I take a closer look at the latest iPhone Pro model. Apple has taken it to the next level with the fastest processor ever used on a smartphone. The camera is amazing with a triple-lens and the latest iOS has lots of new features and improvements.
Super Retina screen and striking design
The Apple iPhone 11 has a 5.8-inch Super Retina SDR display with a resolution of 1125 x 2346 pixels. The aspect ratio of 19.5:9 gives an amazing viewing experience with an all-screen look. A slim nodule at the top holds the camera and other sensors.
As this cutout is small you get more screen to immerse yourself into videos, movies or gaming. The screen is groundbreaking when it comes to brightness levels. It brightens to 800 nits when in bright sunlight and 1200 nits when watching content with extreme dynamic range. These record-breaking levels automatically come on depending on what you are doing, so you always get the perfect view.

This latest iPhone has been beautifully crafted with some of the best materials on the market. The phone is enclosed in an aerospace-grade aluminium frame. The case is precision engineered from a single sheet of glass to give the phone a premium look and feel. The front and back glass is made from the toughest glass ever seen on a smartphone. It has been strengthened through a dual ion-exchange to make it super tough. The new iPhone 11 Pro is water-resistant up to 2 metres for 30 minutes.
The Apple iPhone 11 Pro is on offer in Space Grey, Gold, Silver, and Midnight Green. The iPhone Pro weighs 188g and measures 8.1mm thick.
The iPhone 11 Pro has the latest A13 Bionic processor. Apple has made this the most powerful processor ever used in a smartphone. The power management features and processing power mean that everything you do is fluid. The phone is available in three memory variants: 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB.
Highlights of the new chipset include:
- 64-bit Fusion architecture - cores process complex tasks faster than ever

- Fastest GPU in a smartphone - 20% faster and 40% more energy efficient
Phone Set Up
Face ID is one of the most advanced facial recognition options on a phone. During setup, it projects 30,000 invisible dots onto your face. It uses these dot points to accurately map your facial pattern using an infrared camera. A unique map is created and used each time you unlock the phone. Once the phone recognises this incredibly detailed pattern as you, the phone unlocks. The system means that the phone doesn't store or share your image.
The Face ID feature can be used to sign in to apps or make payments with Apple Pay. As one of the most advanced facial recognition systems, it has been shown that the iPhone can't be tricked into unlocking like other phones can. Some systems have been unlocked using masks or photos, the iPhone won't do this.
The Apple iPhone 11 Pro has the latest iOS 13 which has improvements and new features throughout. Apps are now even better and the whole system is faster. The most advanced processor ever used in a smartphone makes the iPhone 11 Pro very responsive whatever the task.
Some of the top features of iOS 13 include:
Dark Mode - the OS gets a dramatic new look when in Dark Mode. Every part has been designed to make it easier on the eyes and applies across all apps and menus. It will automatically turn on at night or you can choose to switch to it from the Control Centre.
Siri - the digital assistant now has a new voice that uses advanced neural text-to-speech. Siri now works with apps in more ways with a built-in Shortcuts app. The app can also work with a HomePod and will learn the voices of different family members to personalise the experience to each person at home.
Memoji - create your very own Memoji and personalise it more than ever. You can choose from different makeup options, hairstyles, or piercings. The Memoji gets made into sticker packs so you can use them in Mail and other messaging apps.
3D Maps - new 3D Maps let you explore cities and move around 360 degrees in the images. You can move around the streets to find your bearings. Favourites collate a list of your most visited places so you can quickly select them to make your way there. Collections build lists of points of interest so you can explore even more.
Reminders - using the intelligence of Siri, the new Reminders app makes it easier to add appointments and tasks. The Quick toolbar allows you to add times or documents and smart lists will automatically organise your day.
CarPlay - a simplified dashboard on CarPlay gives you a clean and uncluttered view of the road ahead. It works with the Calendar app to give you a snapshot of your days appointments. The display also works with Apple Music to get you to your favourite car journey playlists.
Augmented Reality - the amazingly powerful processor makes AR apps work better than ever before. ARKit 3 technology can now place objects in front or behind people for immersive AR.

Portrait mode has more lighting controls for beautiful and artistic shots. Smart HDR uses machine learning to recognise people and processes them in the image. It makes people stand out with perfect highlights on the face and makes sure every sunset shot is stunning. The three lenses work together to capture more of the scene and the High-Key Light Mono effect creates professional monochrome shots.
Some of the highlights of the camera on the iPhone 11 Pro are:

The iPhone 11 Pro can capture 4K video at 60fps and the video options allow you to be as creative as you like. When you zoom in while recording video, the audio zooms in too. Video editing goes even further with advanced tools for cropping the action to just the frames you want. You can skew the video in editing and add different filters to get a truly cinematic finish.
