Alcatel 3C review
When budget doesn’t mean ugly
Our Alcatel 3C 2018 review finds that being on a small budget doesn’t mean that you will end up with an ugly duckling. The Alcatel 3C has a big screen and it really looks the part with fine radial detailing.
The Alcatel 3C will be sold in the UK for around £110 and will of course, be available on a two year contract with an inexpensive monthly line rental.
The Alcatel 3C has the new shaped display that most phone manufacturers are calling FullView. With this, the 6” display is thinner and longer, set out in an 18:9 screen aspect ratio. This means that the phone has the width of a phone with a 5.5” display, so it is still really easy to hold.
Keep up to Date

Alcatel has opted for a HD+ resolution, which works out at 1440 x 720 pixels. Standard HD has just 1280 rows of pixels, so with the Alcatel 3C you can see more of an app, game or website, without scrolling down.
The front of the Alcatel 3C looks very modern, due to the shape of the screen and by the fact that there is very little phone body, above or below it. The back also looks great with radial detailing that is centred spreading outwards from the fingerprint sensor. This effect catches the light at different angles.

The Alcatel 3C comes in metallic black, gold and blue. The phone is very thin at 7.9mm and it isn’t heavy at 169g.

Phone Set Up
The Alcatel 3C has a multifunctional fingerprint sensor. It can be used to unlock the phone and to gain access to private files that are secured when using Private Mode. You can also tap the sensor in order to open apps or to take selfies.
The positioning of the fingerprint sensor, on the back, really feels natural. You can save a fingerprint from both hands, so that it doesn’t matter how you pick the phone up.
Of the 16GB internal memory, 9GB is free for you to store your content on. This will certainly get you started, but you may want to expand the memory later on. This is easily done by inserting a up to128GB microSD card. Fortunately, these aren’t expensive to buy.
The Alcatel 3C runs Google’s Android Nougat operating system. This comes with a portfolio of per-loaded apps, such as Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Chrome, Drive and Play Newsstand. You can visit the Play Store to download more apps or content.

Costs have been kept low by using a quad-core 1.3GHz processor with 1GB RAM. This means that you may experience a small delay when opening apps or the photo gallery. However, this is a small sacrifice when we consider the low price and large screen.
Camera & Video
Social Mode photography
The camera app has been designed to make photo shooting, editing and social sharing as easy as possible. With this in mind, you will likely want to check out the Social Mode, which has been created to meet these requirements.
The front camera has a 13MP resolution and an LED flash. The 8MP selfie camera also has an LED flash, so it is great for low light photography.
Shooting modes include HDR, Instant Collage, Face Beauty, Night Mode, Panorama, Time-lapse, Sequential Shooting and still photo capture during video recording. The HD video recording is aided by electronic stabilisation, which corrects any hand shake that may occur.
The Alcatel 3C has a well-sized 3,000mAh battery. There is no fast charge, so from empty to full takes around four hours. The better news here is that the battery lasts a long time and can give you up to 15 hours talk time.
