Sony has officially got two of its three new handsets hitting UK shelves this week, with both the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact both getting listed online following their announcement!
Originally unveiled a matter of hours ahead of IFA, which was held in Berlin, Sony showed off a trio of Xperia devices for us to drool over. However, it’s taken until the beginning of October to get them over the line – with one of them still waiting for its debut.
The long running flagship smartphone straight off the Sony production line, the Xperia Z5 follows up from the Z3+ (or the Z4 if you’re based in Asia). It brings top notch specs alongside a new styled build, which should help it compete with the likes of the iPhone 6s and Samsung Galaxy S6.
Packing a 5.2” HD display, the screen is bright and sharp, whilst behind the scenes we get a powerful Snapdragon 810 chipset and an octa-core processor – both of which ensure speed stay at the forefront of the phone’s mind.
Listed online with the likes of Carphone Warehouse, deals for the phone start at £550 if you’re opting for a sim-free unit. Pay monthly contract deals are less pricey at £42 per month, but do end up costing you more in the long run. Compare all Z5 prices here
If your pockets are already fit to burst, then why not try out a smaller version of the Sony handset, with the Z5 Compact also getting listed for sale this week?
It sports a more diminutive 4.6” 720p display, but it’s still a heavyweight under the hood, with a similar Snapdragon 810 chipset and octa-core processor duo. Also, with 2GB RAM and the very same camera set-up, the Z5 Compact still offers plenty of power for your hard earned cash.
You will make a saving on the larger model however, with the Compact pricing up at £450 sim free via Carphone Warehouse. However, monthly deals will again total more in the long run at £33.50 per month.
It’s no surprise to see Sony hold back its more expensive Z5 Premium device, mainly because the Japanese company said during its launch that it would be a longer release schedule.
It’s highly likely that Sony will squeeze the handset out before the Christmas period, in an effort to drum up sales during the busiest shopping period of the year. However, there’s no promise of release for the Premium handset yet, so don’t go holding your breath!
