With the summer almost over, everyone knows at least one person who has fallen victim to roaming charges this holiday season. Although the EU is making plans to eventually abolish roaming charges for using your phone abroad, mobile phone network, Three, is planning to get ahead of the game by allowing British mobile phone users to use their mobile phone plans abroad just as they would in the UK.
This means that Three customers can call, text and Tweet away, even if they’re a thousand miles away from home. The only catch is that the policy only applies to seven countries: Australia, Italiy, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden and Hong Kong.
To benefit from free roaming you don’t have to be part of a specific Free at Home plan, though it is best to check with your operator before getting carried away Instagramming all your holiday snaps at the airport!
