With just one week to go before Samsung reveals its brand new flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S5, a leakster has confirmed that the device will indeed sport a fingerprint scanner.
The S5 is already one of the most talked about devices this year so far, with fans and critics eager to catch a glimpse of the best Android smartphone of 2014. However, today it has been revealed that the S5 will not sport a high-tech iris scanner which has been mooted, but that it will instead feature a fingerprint scanner.

Fingerprint scanning technology has become the norm amongst flagship devices ever since Apple raised the bar with the iPhone 5s. HTC then followed suit with the HTC One Max, leaving Samsung trailing behind- until now at least.
However, today’s leak suggests that the Galaxy S5’s fingerprint sensor will not be as sophisticated as that of the latest iPhone. Rather than simply pressing a thumb over the phone’s home button, the S5’s fingerprint sensor will require users to swipe their finger over its home button instead.
The S5’s fingerprint scanner is just one of the many rumours we’ve spotted so far. Take a look at the whole list of Samsung Galaxy S5 rumours here.
