20% faster charging sees five minutes of charge delivering five hours or more smartphone usage, demonstrated on tests using a 2,750mAh battery. Quick Charge 4 can also take the same battery from zero to 50% charge in just 15 minutes.
Qualcomm Technologies’ Quick Charge 4 will be used in the next generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, scheduled for commercial device inclusion, during the first half of 2017. With the Snapdragon 835 processor, it is also worth mentioning here that, the Samsung Qualcomm collaboration, will give us a processor that has up to 40% less power consumption.

According to research conducted by Sino-MR, 60% of consumers are influenced by fast charging. This percentage was confirmed in Qualcomm’s own study, which also identified that a quarter of consumers think that it takes too long to charge their device.
Alex Katouzian, senior vice president of product management at Qualcomm Technologies, states that “Quick Charge 4 addresses that need by providing up to 50 percent battery charge in roughly 15 minutes or less, so you don’t have to spend all day chained to your charging cable.”
Quick Charge 4 uses a variety of technologies to gain faster charges times at high efficiency. Using Qualcomm Technologies’ Dual Charge parallel charging technology, Quick Charge 4 has 30% higher efficiency, compared to Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.

Qualcomm’s third release of its Intelligent Negotiation for Optimum Voltage (INOV)
power management algorithm, gives realtime thermal management, which is a first for the technology industry.
This works by actively monitoring thermal conditions and then choosing the optimum power transfer level. This also means that it runs cooler, by up to 5° C.
Safety is enhanced with built in protection for the phone, battery, adapter and cable. This is driven through accurately measuring the current, voltage and temperature. Quick Charge 4 also includes overcharge protection and charge cycle current regulation.
