One of the busier smartphone manufacturers this year has been OnePlus, offering up two new headline devices in recent months, helping build its reputation as a producer of high-end devices.
However, it isn’t resting on its laurels, with another phone reportedly in the works – possibly arriving in early 2016.
Talk of a miniature version of the OnePlus 2 was pretty much iced when the OnePlus X was announced, bringing a stylish new design and powerful specs. In fact, many smartphone fans were appeased by the device, meaning that another phone wasn’t expected at all.
But it seems that OnePlus has fooled us all, with another phone having been benchmarked online, effectively revealing all of the phone’s specs and features.
This has obviously reignited talk of the OnePlus Mini being the device that’s rumoured, potentially offering some major competition to the yet unchallenged Sony Xperia Z5 Compact. The Sony device has had a pretty smooth run since its launch in October, with many other devices simply too large to compare with the smaller phone.
According to the leak, the OnePlus Mini will be sporting a 4.6” 1080p screen, squeezing in approximately 479 pixels per inch. This actually makes the device sharper than its Sony competitor, giving it a one up over the handset, although we’d wait for confirmation before getting too excited about it.
Behind the screen is a healthy array of specs as well, and they match suit with the ones we got in the OnePlus 2 flagship phone as well. This means that we get a Snapdragon 810 chipset, an octa-core processor and 4GB RAM.
Internal storage starts at 64GB, giving you more than enough space for your movies and audio files, presumably with a MicroSD card slot also available should you need more. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is the OS being listed on the leak, possibly leading to a Marshmallow update.
Topping things off is the very same camera which features on the OnePlus 2 as well, rocking 13 megapixels on the back side and 5 megapixels on the front. This makes the OnePlus Mini a superb miniature smartphone, and one of the best in the business.

Unfortunately, just because the handset’s specs have leaked it doesn’t mean that the phone is super-close to launch. In fact, it’s almost guaranteed to be unveiled after Christmas, potentially around January – with CES a major event which it could decide to go along with.
This goes the same for the price of the handset, which for now is shrouded in mystery. We can guess that you’ll be shelling out a fair bit for it however, almost certainly with OnePlus restricting the number of sales with its invite-only scheme.
