Nexus Wireless Charger Coming Soon

Nexus Wireless Charger

Nexus owners will soon be able to do away with wires completely with the new Nexus Wireless Charger, which is ‘coming soon’ according to the Google Play Store.

The charger is available for all Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 devices, and allows you to simply place your phone onto the magnetic pad which tops up your battery just like any traditional charger.

The charging pad measures just 60 x 60 x 12.5mm and its glossy square design matches that of the Nexus devices themselves.

Don’t be fooled by the term ‘wireless charger’, though; although you don’t have to plug the charger directly into your phone, the power’s got to come from somewhere, requiring you to connect the charging pad to mains electricity.

The Nexus Wireless Charger is only available in the US and Canada for the time being, though it is hoped that it will make its way to the UK in time.

Wireless charging has been around for some time, though it hasn’t made as big an impact as expected within the smartphone industry.

Nokia made a splash with its range of wireless charging plates, pillows and cases available in colours to match the vibrant Lumia range, though it would seem that many users still opt for the traditional wired option.
