New mobile phones are consistently making the news headlines in May 2016, which is turning out to be one of the busiest months this year. So far we have seen ten new mobile phones become available in the UK, will these beome one of the most popular handsets this year.

Samsung has been busy producing two new smartphones that fit into the budget to mid range pricing bracket. The Samsung Galaxy A3 2016 is the cheaper of the two and has a 13MP camera, 5MP selfie camera, 4.7” display, Android OS and 4G internet connectivity.

However, for a couple of pounds more, the Samsung Galaxy A5 delivers in a big way. Premium materials have been used, including a metal frame, with the front and back faces being made from toughened Gorilla Glass 4. There is a 5.2” display, fingerprint sensor and a Wide Selfie lens fitted to the camera.
The X series will for now replace the Z series and Sony has released a trio of smartphones to satisfy the budget, mid and premium ends of the market.
The Sony Xperia X is the mid option and features an amazing 23MP camera that predicts where objects and subjects will move to next, to ensure that perfect results are captured and without any focusing delay. This smartphone also has a 13MP selfie camera with low-light sensors, 4G, Android Marshmallow OS, 5“ display and colour-coded lock screen.

The Sony Xperia XA is the budget option and the cheaper price point has been achieved by marginally reducing the screen resolution, using a Helio processor and by using a 13MP/8MP camera combination.
The Sony Xperia X Performance brings more power to the table with the Snapdragon 820 processor, which gives 40% improved graphics performance, 2x processing performance and 30% less power consumption.
The i.am+ Dial, from musician will.i.am, is a fully fledged and standalone smartphone that looks like a watch. This ‘smartcuff’ is supplied with a Bluetooth headset for making calls, has a Gorilla Glass 1.63” display, AneedA OS and voice assistant, a 2MP camera and IP54 water resistance.
The LG X Screen brings the always-on display to the mid-range. In this case the always-on display is a strip that sits above the main 4.93” display and this can be used to show notifications, quick launch apps or music controls that don’t interrupt what is happening on the main screen. The LG X Screen has 13MP/8MP cameras and the Android M OS.

The LG K8 is a budget phone that gives consumers the chance to get hold of an Android M smartphone at a rock bottom price. This LG phone has an 8MP camera, 5” display and woven back cover design.
The LG K4, with contracts from £4.50 per month, comes in even cheaper than the LG K8. It does this through using the slightly older Android Lollipop OS with a 5MP camera. The online experience is still top notch with 4G and Wi-Fi connectivity.
The DeWALT MD 501 is a tough phone that is IP68 certified, indicating that it can be submerged in water to a two metres depth for 30 minutes or be dropped onto concrete from a height of two metres.
