Huawei’s latest phablet has undergone the inevitable leaking treatment this month, with pretty much its entire spec sheet being put on show for all to see. Following up from the immensely powerful Huawei Mate 7, the Mate 8 is highly anticipated in Asia, and could be up for something of a breakout entry on the UK and US markets following its launch if all goes to plan.
Talk of the handset has become more and more consistent over recent weeks, but this leak is the best look we’ve had a chance to get of the Huawei device – and it looks very promising, in the mean time check out all the latest huawei phone models list…
As expected, the Huawei phablet will sport a similarly sized 6” screen to that of its predecessor, although it will take a step up on the phone’s resolution – climbing to 1440p instead of the 1080p offering.
Behind the powerful screen, we get a Kirin 950 chipset which will be arguably the best of its kind in any smartphone upon launch, whilst an octa-core processor is also included to provide a more streamlined experience. This should have the Huawei phablet outpace many devices that pack the likes of a Snapdragon 810 SoC or even Exynos 7420 powered phones.
You’ll get two different kinds of the Huawei device to choose from with the Mate 8, one rocking 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, and one with a more spacious 4GB RAM and 64GB memory. These will obviously vary in price – although these will be the only differences between the handsets.
Battery details are still being kept under wraps, but if last year’s effort is anything to go by, you can expect another healthy inclusion once again. Camera junkies should also be pleased with the inclusion of a 20mp rear lens and an 8 megapixel front facing camera – both of which do their job exceptionally well.
Unlike the spec sheet, there’s not too many changes being made to the design of the Huawei phablet. The metallic construction stays put, with incredibly thin bezels making the cut once again as well.
There’s no news on any of the colour variants that will be popping up around the launch of the device, but if the leaked pictures are anything to go by – we could well be getting a gold style model for us to play with. As you might expect, a grey version of the phone is also highly likely – whilst other colours could also make an appearance.
Rumour has it that the Huawei Mate 8 will sport a surprisingly reasonable price tag considering the quality of its specs, with the 3GB RAM version of the phone hinting at a £340 sim-free cost. The 4GB RAM version will be bit more pricy at £400 sim-free, but this price isn’t exactly over the top considering the recently revealed price tags for the likes of the iPhone 6s and other flagship phones.
The phablet is expected to make an appearance ahead of Christmas, giving users plenty of chance to gift the handset to one another over the festive period!
