One of the biggest phones revealed at CES has finally been confirmed for a UK release, bringing yet another curved screen onto the market.
The LG G Flex2 was unveiled at the Las Vegas based electronics show, and was one of the few smartphones to actually make the trip, with most other manufacturers favouring MWC which is held in March.
However, it looks like it’s still going to make a splash here in the UK as well, after Vodafone was confirmed as a timed-exclusive network for the handset upon its launch.
For the first six weeks of its lifespan, you’ll only be able to pick up the G Flex2 on contract with Vodafone, whilst after that your options will open up.
Rocking the curved screen once more, the G Flex2 adds onto what was already a good handset in the original G Flex with some notable specs.
You might be surprised to hear that the overall screen size has actually dropped from 6” to 5.5” in an effort to downsize the handset, but this doesn’t make for bad viewing on the curved screen by any means.
1080p resolution is finally here, upping from the 720p offering from before, resulting in a pixel per inch ratio of 403, which is nearly twice as sharp as on the previous LG handset.
The latest Snapdragon 810 chipset is included inside the device, whilst an octa-core processor is also included, making for a much smoother experience than we’ve seen before from LG.
It will ship in two variants, with a 16GB hard drive and 2GB RAM version coupling a 32GB storage and 3GB RAM device, with price differences apparent between the two.
Also, a 13 megapixel camera makes the cut on the back side of the handset, with a 2.1 megapixel effort working the front side of the device, with all of LG’s camera apps also coming along for the ride.
Topping things off is a 3000mAh battery, which works alongside Project Volta on Android Lollipop to offer up well over a day’s battery life, which is the industry standard for flagship smartphones right now.
Having been confirmed here in the UK, you now simply have to wait until pre-orders get going on the final day of February; with an actual release date will be on March 19th.
Obviously, there’s no word on availability just yet, but it’s unlikely that the G Flex2 will run out of stock when it’s released, so pre-orders aren’t a necessity if you’re not bothered too much about picking the handset up on the day.
However, we can’t confirm just how popular the device might prove to be, so if you do have your heart set on the handset, a pre-order would make sense.
