LG’s first curved-screen smartphone, the G Flex, will hit European shelves before Christmas, it has been revealed.
Mobile network, Orange, has unveiled plans to release the device in France, leading observers to speculate that the G Flex might reach the UK sooner rather than later.
The G Flex was launched in South Korea last month but until now LG had not announced when the device would hit markets elsewhere around the world.
Critics have argued that the smartphone, which has a vertically curved screen, doesn’t offer enough appeal to coerce users away from the popular flagship models currently on the market.
The LG G Flex was unveiled just after Samsung’s own curved-screen phone, the Galaxy Round, was launched. However, whilst Samsung’s Round curves horizontally, to make it more ergonomic to hold, LG’s version curved vertically in order to improve sound and gaming experience.
LG has sent out invitations for a G Flex event in Hong Kong tomorrow (Tuesday), so we expect to hear more about launch dates, availability and contract prices then.
