Chinese smartphone manufacturer Lenovo has revealed a new handset this week, featuring a striking resemblance to the iPhone 6 whilst being named the Sisley S90.
We’re not exactly crazy about the name, but in terms of design you’ll struggle to fault the S90, although perennial iPhone haters might not be such big fans.
Boasting an impressive 6.9mm thin build, it’s hard to look at the S90 and not think of an iPhone, in fact, Lenovo has ripped off the Apple handset so much, even its presentation shots of the device are practically identical.
As you can see from these pictures, the looks of the Lenovo are very Apple-centric, even the location of the charger port, speakers and camera are similar to the latest iPhone’s.
The similarities aren’t as noticeable under the hood however, with Lenovo opting for a Snapdragon 401 chipset alongside 16GB storage.
A 5” Super AMOLED display manages the front side of the handset whilst also offering HD resolution for a good quality screen overall.
1GB RAM couples a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, offering up a friendly pace for consumers who consider grabbing the handset as well.
It doesn’t look like Lenovo has cheaped out on the photography front either, giving us a brilliant 13 megapixel offering on the back side, which doesn’t protrude like that on the iPhone 6.
It’s on the front side though where we were really shocked, with an 8 megapixel lens finding its place above the display. This makes the S90’s front camera more powerful than many handsets’ primary lenses, and gives us a chance to take some top notch selfies.
There’s no word yet as to whether we’ll be getting any selfie loving apps or software to go alongside this super-powerful lens, but even if there isn’t it’s sure to offer quality.
Android 4.4.4 KitKat is the operating system we’ll be getting in the Lenovo Sisley, so we can rest safe in the knowledge that we won’t be getting a dodgy piece of software in this device either.
Lenovo has also announced that the handset will feature dual-sim capabilities and NFC, features which are a nice addition even if they aren’t exactly deal breakers.
For now, the Lenovo Sisley S90 is going to be released in China for a surprisingly cheap $330 (around £210 in UK money), with no word no just when we’ll be getting it here, if at all. It will be available in four colours, with grey, silver, gold and pink the options.
It would certainly be a shame to see this Apple lookalike ply its trade exclusively in Asian markets, especially considering the potential it has with its 8mp selfie snapper, but ultimately it comes down to whether Lenovo feels that it would be a profitable move.
Either way, we reckon the guys and girls at Apple may be considering some form of legal action if Lenovo continues to market the S90 in such a similar fashion.
