Huawei is to launch the Huawei P8 Lite 2017 in the UK on the 1st February. The news is a that this new Huawei phone will be available connected to Vodafone and be priced from £16 per month on a two year contract or at £185 on pay as you go.
Huawei has opted for an unusual name choice, going backwards from the Huawei P9 Lite, which was launched during 2016. This suggests that the Huawei P8 Lite 2017 is not a major launch and hints that the Huawei P10 Lite will receive an imminent launch.
Huawei has stated that this smartphone is designed for selfies and low light photography. There is a 12MP camera with a f/2.2 aperture, which lends itself towards capturing bright, realistic and detail rich images.
The large 1.25μm sized pixels will capture more light for better low light photography and there is an LED flash and automatic phase detect autofocus (PDAF). The 8MP selfie camera is a step forward from the 5MP selfie camera that was used on the original Huawei P8 Lite.
The Huawei P8 Lite 2017 gets a more up to date look with rounded edges finished in polished glass. The front face holds a 5.2” Full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) IPS display, which is up from just HD seen on its predecessor.
The 2.5D glass gives a premium look and feel and this is really finger friendly when swiping out or inwards from the edge of the screen.

The best news about the Huawei P8 Lite 2017 is that it runs on the very latest software. In this case, that is Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system and Huawei’s EMUI 5.0 user interface. This has a nice clean look that has been inspired by the blues of the Aegean Sea.
The P8 Lite 2017 has the hardware to backup this latest software. This includes a 2.1GHz Kirin 655 octa-core 16nm processor with 3GB RAM, which is almost twice as powerful as the processor on its predecessor.
Fingerprint 4.0 technology gives biometric security and this will unlock the phone in less than 0.3 seconds. The internal memory of 16GB can be boosted with a microSD card of any value up to 256GB.

There is more good news in the battery department with a 3,000mAh battery replacing the original 2,200mAh battery. This should give owners an average usage time of 1.7 days. There should be enough juice on board to browse the internet for up to 11 hours or listen to music for up to 93 hours or watch video for up to 15 hours.
The overall form of the Huawei P8 Lite 2017 sticks to its light labeling with a weight of 147g and a body that measures 7.6mm thick.
