As has become the norm before any major mobile phone handset is launched, tipster @evleaks has unveiled a series of images reported to be the new Huawei Ascend W2 running the Windows Phone 8 OS.
The device is also alleged to be the thinnest Windows Phone, which, sitting alongside the Ascend P6 which is set to break the record as the world’s slimmest smartphone, seems to be setting some kind of trend for Huawei.
However, very little is known about the technical specs of the Ascend W2. Rumours about the device have been circulating for the past few months, and suggest that the device will feature a 4.3 inch display, a 1.5GHz QUALCOMM processor an 8MP camera.
The Ascend W2 is also rumoured to hit the entry to mid-level market, with a predicted price sitting under the £200 mark, similarly to the Huawei Ascend P1, which scored an impressive 84/100 in our Huawei Ascend P1 review.
Days after the initial images of the Ascend W2 were leaked, tipster @evleaks revealed the same device in red and yellow, showing a remarkable resemblance to Nokia's Lumia range.
Whether the Huawei Ascend W2 will be a big hit in the UK remains to be seen, but with the Chinese company gaining more credit for its well-fashioned devices, Huawei could well see itself rivalling the likes of Samsung and HTC in the British mobile phone market late in the year.
