UPDATED 1600 GMT
It’s official: the much anticipated HTC One flagship model has finally arrived!
We’ve had weeks of speculation and guesswork, and now HTC has unveiled its latest flagship model, jam packed with impressive features.
The Taiwanese company has released images on its website which show the new device’s full metal body, live home screen, dual frontal stereo speaker system and a rear-facing camera which allegedly lets in up to 300 per cent more light than other smartphones.
Just watching the promotional video is making us excited about getting our hands on the device, which looks sleeker and more stylish than any HTC model yet. Being the first handset to feature the new Sense 5.0, we can only expect good things from the HTC One.
UPDATE 1300 GMT
While HTC is due to unveil its One flagship model in London at 3pm today, it would seem that the Taiwanese manufacture has given the public a sneak peak at the new handset.
Images released look to be legitimate, and suggest that the new model will be available in both a silver/white and black, as predicted in many rumours that have been circulating in the past few weeks. The leaked pictures also depict not one, but two, speakers, one at the top and one at the bottom of the handset, which should bring us an even better sound quality than any existing HTC model.
Some sources say that HTC will release the One flagship model during the weeks following MWC in Barcelona next week. Other reports speculate that HTC will also launch a further two devices today in their 3pm meeting in London. One of these additional devices, the HTC M4, is said to sport a 4.3 inch display, a 1.2 GHz processor and a 13 MP camera, while the other, supposedly the HTC G2, will have a smaller 3.5 inch screen, a 1 GHz processor and the Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android. Presumably HTC is aiming to fulfil the lower, mid and high –end of the smartphone market with their new range, though until it is revealed how much these devices will cost, it is difficult to suggest how well they will do against competition from the likes of Samsung, Sony and LG.
We will bring you more of the official launch at 3pm. In the meantime, let us know your thoughts about what the new model looks like by Tweeting us @mobilephonescom. HTC has been in the news a lot lately with specification and alleged image leaks of their latest flagship phone, the HTC One. The latest has come from HTC themselves in the form of a cheeky teaser image on their Facebook page showing a little corner of a phone peeping out from under a cover with today’s date embroidered on it.
Update: 0800 GMT
Today is the launch event for the HTC One with events happening simultaneously in New York and London so it won't be long before we see the cover removed completely.
So far the rumours hint at the phone having a 1080p HD display as well as a beefy quad-core processor and of course the ultrapixel camera. Android Jelly Bean is expected to be on board along with the latest version of the Sense UI.
The event will be kicking off soon and we will bring you all the details of this latest phone from HTC. Whatever the phone launch brings will this be enough for HTC to gain back some of their previous popularity with mobile users? Do you like HTC as a brand? Do you think they can still compete with the likes of Samsung?
