HTC’s latest weird and wonderful take on advertising has emerged, and this time the Taiwanese company is not alone, employing Robert Downey Jr to front the latest ad with the strapline ‘Here’s to Change’.
In the ad, Downey Jr strolls into a boardroom meeting to offer an alternative to the acronym HTC- High Tech Computer. The fifteen second video is reportedly the first of many adverts to be headed by the actor, and, with the HTC website also featuring a word generator which allows visitors to create their own acronyms for HTC, we can only assume that the clip is part of a larger campaign to get people talking about the ailing electronics company.
Although HTC hit it big with the HTC One flagship earlier this year, the firm have yet to overcome the stigmatism of being classed second rate to larger manufacturers such as Samsung.
