HTC has announced that the HTC One, HTC’s current flagship, will get Android 4.4 within 90 days, meaning that owners will get the upgrade by the end of January 2014.
Those who own the Google Play Edition of the HTC One could even get Android KitKat even sooner, a source has also revealed.
Android KitKat was unveiled on the Nexus 5 device last week, and has since caused a stir in the Android community, with most users eagerly anticipating the news of when the update will make its way to their phones.
HTC has, however, been a little cagey when it comes to its One Mega and One Mini devices, stating that details of Android KitKat “will follow”.
Information about when KitKat will reach other major handsets including the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Sony Xperia Z have yet to be announced, though it looks likely that only Google devices will have the upgrade this side of Christmas.
Update: French carrier SFR has announced that the LG G2 will get Android 4.4 by November or December.
