A mysterious new HTC handset has been revealed on Twitter by @upleaks, the latest smartphone leaker to follow up since @evleak’s retirement.
The HTC Desire Eye as it’s currently known was leaked through two pictures posted on Twitter, giving us an interesting insight into the device.
The main selling point is a fairly obvious one to say the least, with the Desire Eye sporting a 13 megapixel front facing lens.
This means that it will boast a more powerful front lens than any other smartphone on the market today, and one which could even outshine the majority of rear based lenses as well.
Alongside the front lens will also be a dual LED flash by the looks of the image, although these details haven’t been confirmed as of yet.
The Desire Eye will also sport a 5.2” 1080p display, letting you show off all those selfies that are bound to be taken on a stunning HD screen.
Behind the hood the quality keeps on coming, with a Snapdragon 801 chipset, quad-core 2.3GHz processor and 2GB RAM all making the cut.
In terms of storage we’re being told that there will be 32GB of space on the Eye, whether this can be expanded through an SD card is unknown however, so you’ll have to wait for more info if you think 32GB isn’t enough space.
Topping off the spec list is a 2,400mAh battery and a yet unconfirmed IP water resistance rating, which would be a welcome addition as always.
The Android operating system has been confirmed for the HTC handset, whether this is Android KitKat or L is another question though which is likely dependent on when the next version of Android is released.
Either way the Sense 6 user interface will be plastered over the stock Android system, so you’ll be getting a distinct HTC vibe from the handset no matter what.
When it comes down to the design of the handset, it looks as though we’re getting a dual colour style if we’re to believe the HTC styled advert also leaked on Twitter.
The only colours we can see are an orange and black style and a blue and navy style, both of which look great.
HTC is hosting an event on the 8th October, during which it’s expected to show off the HTC One M8 Eye, which is basically the One M8 with a 13 megapixel duo lens on the back, and a new live action camera.
It’s unlikely that the HTC Desire Eye would be getting revealed then, but it isn’t completely off the cards, as it would be a bit of a push to unveil yet another handset before the Christmas sales rush.
Either way, we won’t have to wait too long to find out, so the lack of price and release date information won’t be bothering us for too long if all goes to plan.
