iPhone fanatics everywhere were queuing into the night in order to get their hands on the iPhone 5s as soon as the Apple shop doors opened at 8 o’clock this morning. Were you one of them?
Mobilephones.com went over to the Bull Ring in Birmingham to talk to some of the eager fans enthusiastic enough to be one of the first to take an iPhone 5s home.
I caught up with Tracey who had been waiting in the queue for 2 hours for her iPhone 5s. She admitted that she had queued in line each year a new iPhone has been announced, making this year no exception. She made the decision not to download iOS7 when it went live on Wednesday, instead keeping all the excitement for today.
I also met Harvey who had been in the queue for a similar length of time. Asked why he didn’t just wait for the iPhone 5s to be delivered, Harvey told me that he was a self-confessed “Apple-addict”, and that he couldn’t wait the extra time that it would take for the phone to come through the post.

When I mentioned the criticism that iOS7 has received lately, Harvey defended it, saying: “I’ve had iOS7 for the past 6 months and it’s great”.
On venturing into the Bull Ring itself, I met swarms of people leaving the jam-packed Apple shop, white-carrier bags in hand. I bumped into two new iPhone 5s owners who had joined the queue at 9 o’clock last night, finally getting their hands on the device 12 hours later.

I asked if they were going to rush home and play on the phone, to which they replied: “First I’ll go to bed!”.
