MWC 2016 is looking like one of the best on record, with plenty of smartphone set to make an appearance in the Barcelona-based event. However, another phone which could be joining in with the crowds could be the LG G5…
Update: The LG G5 will be announced on the 21st February 2016; read the LG G5 review here.
In previous years, LG has seen the G series of smartphones target a different release dates to the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S line-up, but now it seems that LG is bringing the battle to the biggest mobile conference on the planet.
What did the next best mobile conference have on offer this year? Take a look at our round-up of phones at CES here...
The LG G5 is set to be the next major launch from LG, following the mysterious absence of the LG G Flex3, which was originally expected to be one of the best phones at CES 2016. However, with its omission seemingly pointing to LG shelving the curved screen device, the onus will fall onto the G5 to produce sales.
This means that MWC could be one of the most smartphone-packed events for years, with LG’s launch adding to an array of handsets that already sound promising.
The release of LG G5 deals will be in competiton with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, HTC One M10 and Sony Xperia Z6 could all feature , whilst Apple’s iPhone launch won’t take place until September, as it always has done.
This means that March is set to be a big month for mobile phone fanatics…
As with any flagship smartphone, the LG G5 is expected to bring a host of powerful specs to the fray, and will likely be one of the most powerful phones at MWC as a whole.
Apparently boasting a 5.6” QHD display, the G5’s screen will be up there amongst the best, whilst its Gorilla Glass 4 construction will also ensure that it can take a real beating too. Behind this, a Snapdragon 820 chipset, 4GB RAM and up to 64GB of internal memory will also guarantee that performance doesn’t struggle either.
An octa-core processor will handle all of the lifting work, as well as guaranteeing a fast pace when you’re using the phone, whilst a 3000mAh battery will make the cut once again.
Camera fans will once again get the likes of Laser Autofocus to play with, whilst a 20 megapixel lens will be assisted by a front facing 13 megapixel effort – if the rumours are to be believed. This will make the Android Marshmallow phone one of the best in the business – let alone one of the best on show in Barcelona.
The G5 will be likely to launch in late March or April, with pricing details and availability yet to be revealed. For more on the upcoming conference, visit the MWC website.
