Apple wins patent row against Samsung

There’s always been a long ingrained rivalry between US giant, Apple and South Korean electronics firm Samsung, cemented with court cases, legal battles and patent rows. The most recent argument to be decided on, however, has ruled that Samsung has infringed on Apple’s patents in some of its electronic devices.

The two patents concerned with this latest legal battle include the so-called “Steve Jobs patent”, relating to touch-screen technology, as well as a patent involved in the audio sockets of Apple devices.

This latest ruling is a key breakthrough for Apple, which was over taken by Samsung as the biggest seller in smartphones last year.

An official statement issued by Apple said: "With today's decision, the ITC has joined courts around the world in Japan, Korea, Germany, Netherlands and California by standing up for innovation and rejecting Samsung's blatant copying of Apple's products."

Apple may have won this case, but, if the two companies’ history is anything to go by, this won’t be the last disagreement yet.
