The result of LG teaming up with fashion house Prada is a lovely little mobile phone that set the trend (Dolce & Gabbana with Motorola; Julian McDonald with Sony Ericsson; Cath Kidston with Nokia - the list goes on).
Small and compact - the LG Prada is the size of the LG Chocolate phone and simplicity itself in its design. No slider, no clam or candybar design is needed - just one piece of technology with a couple of shortcut button - the worlds first completely touch screen mobile phone.
The front displays the touchscreen in question, which not only dominates the design of the phone but also - as with the LG Chocolate models - disappears when not in use; the only other buttons on the front are a small pick-up, hang-up and menu.
The sides offer equally small buttons for the shutter of the 2 megapixel camera with its Schneider-Kreuznach lens, for the MP3 player, lock and volume. With no keypad, everything - from video player to document viewer - is done via the touchscreen display - no stylus like the average PDA, but highly sensitive fingertip control.
The default screen has a large analogue clock display, giving it a retro look. Press the relevant icon, the relevant menu appears and everything glides into action: no waiting, no uncertainty - it just works. Not bad for a major fashion statement!
The menu system is incredible simple to read, understand and use - touch the clock to get the alarm, for example, make the LG Prada a joy to use.
Of course, it offers Bluetooth™ for email and Web connectivity and MicroSD slot for extra storage. The LG Prada is a lot more than mere looks.
The Prada is a tri-band phone - no 3G - with full multimedia messaging and email capabilities, plus Bluetooth for wireless data transfer with compatible devices. The now conventional range of applications includes an MP3 player, FM radio, document viewer (.ppt, .doc, .xls, .pdf, .txt), personal organiser, voice memo and built-in handsfree. There are four pre-installed game: Halloween Fever, Photo Puzzle, Virus and Pipe.
Battery life is rated at 3 hours talk time and up to 300 hours on standby.
