Nokia recognises that customers appreciate quality and the Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte slider phone exemplifies the Finnish company's marriage of feature-richness and aesthetics. At 109 x 45.6 x 65 and weighing 150g, the Arte is not competing for Slimmer of the Year, but instead scores on looks, brains and artisanship (although it is the thinnest member of the 8800 family to date).

The large screen display (QVGA resolution of 320×240pixels and up to 16 million internal memory, though no expansion slot for additional storage. It is a tri-band GSM phone with GPRS, EDGE and 3G (384 kbps) data connectivity, with stereo Bluetooth 2.0 for wireless and USB for wired data transfer.

You can enjoy sharing photos or video recordings with compatible MMS multimedia contacts. The phone allows you to enjoy instant messaging via 3G, which means you can communicate using text and symbols to any contact that is online at the same time as you. There a 3.15 megapixels camera with video, autofocus and 8 x digital zoom. An interesting feature is the phone's accelerometers that allow you to tap-for-time (display the clock when the case is touched) and to turn the phone to mute when it is laid face down on a flat surface.

The alphanumeric keys are reasonably large with strong tactile feedback for ease of texting.
