The Nokia 6301 has the same classic, elegant design and stainless steel finish of its predecessor, the 6300. This one comes with a Wi-Fi/WLAN feature enabling you to use your home , office wireless or even public "hot spot" broadband connection to enjoy affordable and fast calls or messaging.

At 107 x 44 x 13 mm, weighting 93g, the device includes a 2 megapixel camer with 8 x zoom, maximum resolution of 1600×1200 pixels and video recording capability. The screen is a large 2-inch TFT affair with 16 million colours and a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels It has 30 MB of internal memory and a memory card slot for additional storage. As one would expect from Nokia, messaging facilities are comprehensive - SMS, MMS, email, instant messaging, plus T9 predictive texting.

Fast data transfers are supported through EDGE technology. Bluetooth® technology supports a wireless connection between compatible Bluetooth devices, which makes transferring and downloading data easy without the use of cables - it has a mini USB port for a cabled connection, too. The 6301 is a triband phone - GSM 900, 1800 and 1900 - for roaming across most of Europe and the US.

Built-in entertainment features also include a music player, supporting MP3, AAC, MIDI, AAC+ and WMA music formats, allowing you to download and enjoy your their favourite music on the move. The on-board applications include a 1,000 entry phone book, to-do list, calendar, alarm clock, integrated hands-free operation and 20 dialled, 20 received and 20 missed call records.

Battery life is rated at 5.5 hours of talk time and 336 hours on standby.
