U970 (SHINE)

The LG Shine U970 has been meticulously designed to leave a lasting impression, incorporating a mirror LCD screen and encased with the protective, stylish properties of brushed stainless steel. Open the slide to reveal a keypad and illuminate the screen; close it and the screen disappears leaving a shiny mirrored finish.

The U970 (sometimes called the KU970 Shine) - from Korean electrical giant LG - represents design in harmony with functionality. The intuitive design enables you to navigate settings, contacts, messages, documents, photos and videos with a minimum of effort via the U970's multi-function scroll key in the centre of the handset.

The handset supports Photo ID, photos of contacts appear on the screen as soon as they call. The display can be customised with photos or wallpapers or use Flash Lite files to decorate the screen.

Hidden beneath the sleek, mirror finish is an LCD screen with a 262,000 colour, 240x320 pixel QVGA display - a viewfinder for the 2 megapixel camera featuring a Schneider-Kreuznach certified lens.

Images and videos can be stored them on an MicroSD memory card, taken and sent photos via Bluetooth, MMS and email. The Muvee movie editing suite enables you to record and edit your videos and even add music to them. The U970 also supports PictBridge technology for printing photos without a PC.

The built-in music player, with dedicated MP3 button, is supported by 50 MB internal memory - and use MP3, AAC and AAC+ and polyphonic files as ringtones. The MicroSD memory card slot supports memory cards up to 2GB in size. The U970 also supports "Flight Mode": its calling abilities are disabled so you can still listen to music, watch videos play Java games and more in locations where mobile phones are prohibited, such as aboard aeroplanes.

Bluetooth technology allows wireless communication between compatible devices: talk handsfree with a Bluetooth headset or exchange files with another Bluetooth- compatible device. It supports A2DP so you can stream music, in stereo, to a compatible Bluetooth device such as a Bluetooth stereo headset.

Likes: dual purpose - reflective surface can be used as a mirror when travelling. i also like the slide design.

Dislikes: i don't like the buttons and scroll wheel. it looks awkward and they are hard to press.

It is advisable to choose a 3G handset for decent download speeds of videos and pictures rather than GPRS, however GPRS is pretty good for text based information and pictures with lower definition.
