The HTC TyTN II is a heavyweight PDA - in all senses. At just 110 x 58 x 18mm it is a full 4 mm thinner than the original TyTN and at 190g you know you've got a device in your (has to be sizeable) pocket!
Features of this "slide and tilt" device include Wi-Fi, a 2.8" touchscreen TFT display, an excellent full QWERTY keyboard, a 3 megapixel camera with autofocus and, impressively, a built-in GPS receiver. It is run by a 400 MHz processor on a Windows Mobile 6.0 Pro platform. There is TouchFLO, after a fashion - limited to a home screen plug- in offering a large digital style clock, favourite people speed dials, local weather, a quick launch tool and profile controls, but it allows smooth finger scrolling and panning.
The front of the TyTN II is uncluttered but everything needed is there: a five-way d-pad, two soft keys, "send" and "end" phone buttons, an IE button, email button, Windows button and an OK button. The large screen is a 65K colour touchscreen TFT display with QVGA resolution.
There is 128 MB RAM with an expansion slot, plus EDGE for fast Web connectivity and the GPS location finder software - a feature that is just beginning to become the norm in high-specification devices.
Although PDAs are knowin to be battery-hungry, the rated life is 6 hours talk time and 400 hours on standby.
