Google's new handsets, the Pixel family, are the very first smartphones to be entirely designed by Google from the inside out. Let's take a look at one of them.
With high-end specs and the price that goes with it, the Pixel XL is one of the most exciting releases of the year - even more so than its little brother, the Google Pixel.
The Google Pixel XL will be available from the 20th of October, but pre-orders have already started. Take a look at the storage and colour options and pick the perfect smartphone for your needs.

More excited about the features than the specs? Here you can take a look at some of the select features which we think make the Google Pixel such a fantastic handset.
According to Google, the Pixel XL boasts the highest rated smartphone camera ever. With an incredible 89 Dx0Mark Mobile score (a trusted industry standard for camera and image quality), the rear 12MP camera produces clear, brightly coloured pictures even in low light. This is all thanks to optical image stabilisation, HDR+ and a new software developed just for action shots called Smartburst.
The front camera is also set to be particularly impressive, with an 8-megapixel picture quality rating. Good news for selfie fans!
The very first phone with built-in Google Assistant, Pixel XL offers a new way to search the Internet or get things done without looking at the screen – simply say ‘Ok Google’ to activate the Assistant, and ask any question you may have, or create events, set reminders, find photos and translate documents.
The Assistant can also guide you through apps, programmes, and anything else on screen – even texts, like if you need to search the best way to get to the place a friend has just told you to meet up, simply by saying ‘Ok Google, navigate here’. Welcome to the future!
Every Pixel XL owner will now have access to free unlimited Google Photos storage – so you can wave goodbye to these annoying ‘storage is full’ notifications! This allows you to store full-size, full HD quality photos and 4K videos (which the Google Pixel can shoot) for backup, so you never have to worry about losing them.
This offer is exclusive to Pixel or Pixel XL owners, and other Google Cloud storage users will still have to shell out up to £10 a month to store all their photos and videos (and these will have to be compressed.)
Take a look at the impressive specs announced by Google for their Pixel smartphone…
At the time of release, Google has announced the Pixel XL will have a starting price of £719 – which is slightly expensive but in the normal price range for high-end smartphones, like the recently release iPhone 7 – if you decide to get it SIM-free. On contract, you can expect the Pixel to cost you around £47 per month with unlimited texts and minutes, and 1GB of data - but it's unlikely you'll get a free handset; expect to pay at least a small upfront cost.
