How to tell someone you love them on Valentine’s Day

Love it or hate it, that special day centred around floating cupids, red roses and fluffy hearts is just around the corner.

So if you’re part of the minority that doesn’t feel nauseous every February 14th, then take a look at the best ways you can tell a certain someone that you love them this Valentine’s Day.

Messaging apps to say I  U.

Sure you could text or call, but that’s old news. Why not break the mould and say it with an image instead?

SnapChat is the perfect app to reignite the spark; take a quick selfie of your loved up face with an accompanied message of your undying adoration.

If you’d rather not fire up your camera app first thing in the morning, why not tell someone you love them using pictures another way.

Whatsapp’s range of fun emojis include everything from a loved up cat (don’t pretend you’ve never used it), to brightly coloured love hearts, love letters, lipstick kisses and bouquets of roses.

Whatsapp Emojis

So if you can’t muster up the words this Valentine’s Day, let Whatsapp do it for you.

Send them a poem

If Whatsapp and SnapChat isn’t romantic enough for you, why not go old school by declaring your love with a poem?

In case you haven’t got your creative hat on, the Poetry app from the Poetry Foundation allows you to search for inspiration by browsing the thousands of love poems out there.

From a Shakespeare sonnet (“Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?”) to Carol Ann Duffy’s Valentine, you're sure to find the words to describe your feelings in some form or another.

Sickening Love Quotes

Alternatively, if a poem is a little ‘too much’ this Valentine’s Day, why not send a special someone a cute love quote with the aptly-named Love Quotes” app instead?

Say it with flowers

If you’re a traditionalist, then nothing but 12 long-stemmed red roses will suffice this Valentine’s Day.

So if you don’t want to be left with the last bunch left in your local garage this Friday, make sure you place your order in advance.

The Florist App UK lets you search for your local florist who can deliver to the door, saving you from turning up empty handed on the big day.

Send a card

Can’t find that perfect V-Day card this year? Or did you just leave it too late to pick one up? With Moonpig, you can create your perfect personalised giftcard by adding your own images, names and messages.

What’s more, if you order before 2pm your card will get delivered the very same day, which might cover up the fact that you almost forgot…

Send an e card

If you’ve really left it too late and need to implement Plan B, then an e card might be the best option (if you don’t want to spend Valentine’s Day in the dog house, that is…).

With a range of card maker apps, you can create your very own e card, accompanied with the cheesiest of quotes, love hearts and roses.

Anyway, who said a love email wasn’t romantic?

Say it with a weird animated creature?

Last but not least, if flowers, cards and poems still won’t do, then why not share your feelings with a loved one with a “cute” talking cupid?

Talking Cupid app

Perhaps the only thing missing from your relationship, the talking cupid allows you to share your love with the help of raining hearts, love arrows and personalised tunes.
