App of the week: Jamie's 15 Minute Meals

If it’s your turn to do the cooking tonight and you’re fed up with your tried and tested recipes, why not download this week’s app of the week, designed to spice up meal time and turn you into a semi-pro chef!

Jamie’s 15 Minute Meals (iOS)

If you are a fan of the Channel 4 program, you’ll be aware of plucky TV chef Jamie Oliver’s passion for good food. And now his latest venture, the 15 Minute Meals for iOS (or 20 Minute Meals for Android) app lets you rustle up all the same delicious dishes as the big man himself.

Using the 15 Minute Meal app for iPhones and iPads, users can browse through over 116 dishes which, yep, you’ve guess it, can all be made in 15 minutes!

The app also allows you to grab and share ingredients lists which are listed in supermarket aisle-order, making it easier than ever to both cook and do your food shopping. For the health conscious users out there, Jamie’s 15 Minute Meals app allows you to check out the nutritional value of all of Jamie’s meals to ensure you’re eating wisely.

Although the app charges you 69p to watch a full video demo of a 15 Minute Meal, the free app allows you to watch previews of all 80 meals without an additional charge, which is great for helping you decide what to have for dinner.

Jamie’s 20 Minute Meals (Android)

After launching just the iPhone and iPad version of his 15 Minute Meals app, Jamie Oliver then went on to spread his empire into the Android app store. However, for some unknown reason, Android users will require an extra 5 minutes to cook up these meals, from a choice of 65 recipes.

Each of Jamie’s 20 Minute meals come with step-by-step photography to help guide even the most timid novice from chopping to serving without any hassle. The Android version of the app shares the same shopping list feature, making it easier than ever to record exactly which ingredients you need to pick up from your next supermarket trip.

The Android app also aims to turn you into a professional chef, with 21 video demonstrations to guide you around the kitchen, from chopping an onion to sharpening your knife. The only bad thing about this version of the app is that it does not include a nutritional guide for each meal.

To download the app:

The iOS app- Jamie’s 15 Minute Meals- is free to download with video demos costing 69p each to download.

The Android version of the app- Jamie’s 20 Minute Meals- costs £2.99 from the Google Play Store, but includes free tips, tricks and demos to teach you basic kitchen skills.
